I worked quite hard yesterday, putting down membrane, and shovelling slate into the wheelbarrow, and transporting it to the front garden. I stopped after I had moved one ton of rock, as I had other jobs to do...
When I got up, the rain was tipping down as if it had been doing it for hours, and sure enough, the remainder of the ex-lawn is waterlogged and can't be worked on today. Here is an Autostitched picture of the work so far...

Pro Unless the heavy clay that the builders called topsoil drains more rapidly than usual, I won't be able to work on it today. This means I will have to get on with the ironing. Damn...

Pro Thank you! I can make gardens for people I like, but I don't think I would want to make gardens for money. It's the same with the cooking, my friends and family hardly ever die of it, but I wouldn't want to cook for strangers.

Pro Thank you! There was a lot of stone dust at first, but after the heavy rain, the true colour of the stone shows up. Plum slate, it's well named.
