I was about to list some of my old computer science books on eBay, but they wanted me to list them with free postage. I have asked for that in the Post Office before now, but they just laughed.
Presumably the idea is that I will include the postage in my starting price, and then eBay can charge their percentage final value fee on the postage as well as the item. Greedy.
Anyway, I have listed the books on Amazon instead. Their charges are fair, and visible when you list the item.

Ebay terms and conditions have swung in favour of the buyer and big sellers.Small sellers are now having a hard time.

Pro You wouldn't think they would be so keen on annoying small sellers, but they are. Amazon are a better bet for my sales of decent items...

I've been tempted to use Amazon.. their charges did seem more realistic. e-bay... they are beginning to think they are better than everyone. Perhaps they are forgetting the important ingredient of their workability. Us!

Pro The real annoyance with eBay is the way they meddle with everything instead of keeping it simple. First they decided people would not buy DVDs unless the postage was free, duh? Then books could not be heavy enough to cost more than £2.75 to post. They are cutting their own throats, and the rise of Amazon for private selling is proof of that.
